I have a deceased uncle named Max Faerber who was born on 12 January 1904, and who worked as a journalist for the Morgen Post. We know he had been married and fathered a son, and had been separated from his wife when he fled from Vienna to Shanghai just before the Nazi occupation (fearful of being a target due to his writings). After the war, he was never able to trace either his wife or son. He passed away in New York City
I recently obtained a "copy" (re-typed; in cases of minor mismatches of spellings, it is unclear if these are spelling variants or typos) of a marriage certificate from theIsraelitische Kultusgemeinde(e-mail address =firstname.lastname@example.org) in Vienna. It has the following data:
Hermine Zerkowitz, daughter of Armin Zerkowitz and Cecilie Romer, was born on 29 May1895. (Note: this is only 3 months after the official wedding ceremony of the parents; since R. Hanscom indicates Hermine was born posthumously, there may be some interesting history here...)
On 17 August 1924, Hermine married the following individual: Max Marzwell Farber, son of Simon Farber and Sali Schwarz, born on 12 January 1904
Samuel Zerkowitz and Simon Farber were witnesses.
I'd appreciate any information as to relatives of Max Farber - it is unclear if he was actually born in Vienna.
