Dear Steve:

I have some Land Grant maps (bad copies) made at the Newberry Public Library that show land held by David Fargason along 34*28' close to the Union County and Newberry County line. However, none of the surrounding property mentions any of the names you have....the property is almost surrounded by Robinson property except for a small piece owned by James Young. All this stuff is dated between 1735 and 1798.

Does either of these names strike a memory?

Two summers ago, my family went to Newberry to follow the trail of the Fargason's. It was a wonderful trip. The library in Newberry is not the best for research but nothing holds a candle to the South Carolina Archives & History Center at Columbia, SC.

I made the trip, but lost much of the information because I did not keep good records, mark everything (!) I wrote down and generally messed up a golden opportunity. Don't make the same mistake.

If you have David Fargason somewhere besides the area I mentioned, please let me know.

Very best regards, Jim Fargason
