Karla, I finally found the Harry Farley family in 1880 Scotland County MO and you won't believe how the person doing the index read the name.
I found them by going to the 1880 census records (it is HeritageQuest which is available to me).I put in only the year 1880; state Missouri, county Scotland. Then I put in only an age group 40-50, which included both Harry and Cynthia. Then I looked through the names that might be the family.I saw the name Sinthe Foreleg. The writing for Farley was pretty bad and I see how the indexer could have come up with that.I had trouble reading the names so I went to the site I gave you to see how their indexer came up with names.
In the Advance search I put in the name Sinthe, born Indiana, 1832, plus or minus 2 years. They came up with Sinthe Foreleg.
They showed Charles as age 9, which is a little off.The name Nealia should have been Daniel. They had a son Edward, younger than Charles.I had not come across him as yet.
Sometimes you have to use all kinds of tricks to find who you are looking for.
