Subject: FARLOW/FARLEY in VA 1600's & 1700's Date: Thu, 06 Jan 2000 14:20:01 -0500 From: Carol Ann Tindell To: email@example.com
I see that you are very active at the FARLOW GenForum board....so, I thought you could possibly help with our FARLOW mystery in VA.
Elizabeth AKIN b. abt 1666 Henrico Co., VA is referred in both of her parents' Wills as Elizabeth FARLOW.
Some researchers have changed it to be FARLEY...saying that Elizabeth AKIN married John FARLEY, Jr.b. aft 1667 & d. aft 4/6/1754 Chesterfield Co., VA [which was carved from Henrico Co., VA]He was s/o of John Farley, Sr. 1647-1732 & Mary WILLETT & grandson ofThomas FARLEY, Sr. & Lady Jane SEFTON.
In 1679 Henrico Co., VA, there was: Jno Farloe1 tithe [this is probably John Sr. but isnt' Jno an abbreviation of Jonathan??]
Still, other researchers say that John Farley, Jr. was married to Elizabeth ARCHER...and this contradiction is still going on according to several other researchers that I have recently been in contact.
Elizabeth AKIN's parents were: James AKIN, Sr & Sarah Unknown. James' Will is dtd 4/12/1712 and was filed 3/1/1713 in Henrico Co.,VA.--- he d. Jan 1713 Sarah's Will is dtd 2/2/1713, filed 8/2/1714 Henrico Co., VA--- she d.Jul 1714
Do you have anything in your resource files that could us out.......I amcompletely at a lost as to how FARLOW becomes FARLEY.....or is that incorrect?
Thanks in advance for your time to look in to this....I appreciate it very much....
