I recently came across these posts that I found most interesting. These were a few years ago and no doubt things have moved forward since then but I couldn’t resist the temptation to write.
My grandfather was Thomas McDonald Farnan who came from Scotland/Northern Ireland to Australia in the early 1900’s ( I believe about 1915) with his wife Jean Clarke. His sister Kate also came here. She was married to Sam ( and I apologise I cannot recall the surname but will check if useful.)
I have little knowledge of Thomas’ family except that I recall mention of brothers James, John and David, some of whom he told me had moved to the US.
Thomas and Jean both died in the mid 1950’s in their eighties.
My reasoning for thinking this is the Thomas listed in the note from Isabel Rostrun include the facts that his son was named William Farnan, (and his son Peter William). Thomas’s daughter, the eldest child and my mother, was Anne Clarke Farnan (her children are John Thomas Purser, Robert Bruce Purser andElizabeth Anne Purser.
I have only just begun to try to track a little more of my family so I apologise if this contact is uninvited and perhaps irrelevant.
