My Jackson and Sonnier families were from Vinton/Toomey, LA. Several Jackson's and Sonnier's married into the Cormier families of Toomey, LA. In the 1880 and 1900 Calcasieu Parish, LA census records, I found a John L. Cormier born c. 1844 with wife, Mary born c. 1847, and children Lydia, John W., Azema, Albert, Caroline and Nettie. I believe this John Cormier was the son of Alexandre Cormier and Susanne LeDoux as the age and location fits. What I am now wondering is who was John Cormier's (born c. 1844) wife? Your information shows she may not have been Mary Renna Faulk/Farque. It appears there were two John Cormier's in the Toomey/Vinton area at the same time. There was another John Cormier son of Onezime Cormier and Marguertie Arthemise Melancon. This John was born in 1852. I was not able to find Peter Cormier, any of his siblings or parents in the 1880 or 1900 census records. I looked at the Texas census as well. In the 1910 Calcasieu Parish, LA census Jake Cormier is next door to Isaac Cormier. Archie T. Cormier is living with Myrtie Cormier and her husband, John Cailout. They are also next door neighbors to Isaac Cormier who was born c. 1873. In the WWI Draft Registration cards I found, Peter, Ogese, Arthur, Thedford, and Adam Cormier all living in the Toomey/Vinton, LA area. Do you have any more updated information that can shed light on these two distinct but I am sure closely related Cormier families?
