I was wondering if you knew anything about Edward Herry 1882 you mentioned. My great grandfather was Edward and all I know about what his father did was that he was an "innkeeper" in London.
My great grandfather was born at about that time and married Bertha Caldow and moved to South Africa in the gold rush. He was killed in a mining accident and his wife died shortly afterwards leaving two orphan daughters. One was my grandmother.
If your Edward is the same as mine, then I guess the Rose and Crown pub might be the so called "inn" that my mother refers to.
