I have just launched a new geographic DNA project: "Oriel Septs of Ireland." Because the surname of O Fearon (O Fearain in Gaelic) is listed by historians as a sept of Oriel, we have chosen to add the surnames Fearon, Feron and Feran to our list of surnames that are eligible for joining the project. We are also listing Farran for those families that might come from the areas included in the Kingdom of Oriel, which would be Counties, Armagh, Fermanagh, Louth, Monaghan, Tyrone and south Down, as they could be from the Oriel O Fearain. If you have already been Y-DNA tested at FTDNA, there will be no additional expense, because you are allowed to belong to a geographic project, in addition to your surname project. If you have not been Y-DNA tested, you can both join the project, and order a Y-DNA test kit, from a link on our project's web site: https://www.familytreedna.com/public/orielsepts Or you can just google FTDNA, and do a search on Farran, and you will find our Oriel_Septs listed there. By joining through our project, you will also be getting our group discount on the price of a Y-DNA test kit. I do not sell test DNA kits, nor do I make any money from the sale of test DNA kits. I am strictly a volunteer for the Oriel Septs of Ireland DNA Project. Thank you, Mary Becker Group Admin.
