I am trying to establish a link to Isaac Farwell of Compton Province of Quebec in 1802. It was in this year that he, and a number of other men were granted land in this area. I suspect that Isaac came from south of the border from the Newbury area of Vermont or Bath/Haverhill in NH. There was certainly a Jonathan Farwell in the latter areaand perhaps a son also by the same name. During the Rev-War, a Jonathan Farwell went north to gather intelligence for the Northern Continental Army and brought back information along with a Captain Joseph Taylor. There was a Private Jonathan Farwell who served for periods in regiments during the 1777-8 period and even up to 1782. He appears to have come from the area of Newbury or thereabouts. In the area of Sherbrooke, Compton etc, there are names that also appear at Bath NH in memory of men who fought as Patriots in the Revolution. there is obviously a strong link between these two areas. Thanks, Alan Mead.
