Would like to find information/descendents of Louis Fobert or Faubert who lived at Elzevir Township in Hastings County, Ontario, then moved to Hungerford, same county, and then I don't know where. There are names similar to the families I am looking for at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Cemetery at Chatham in Kent County.
According to 1901 census information, Louis Faubert was born June 15, 1850 in Quebec. I don't know names of his parents or siblings. He married Louisa Laveck or Leveque about 1870-1875 in Ontario. She was born July 6, 1853 in the USA, most likely at Oswego, New York State as were some of her siblings. The others were born in either Quebec or Ontario, before and after their trip to the U.S.
From the 1881 census transcription for Elzevir Township in Hastings County, Ontario, and from 1901 census transcript for same place....there are eight children listed for this couple:
Louis Faubert Junior born 1875 John born 1882 Adeline born 1884 Alex born 1886 Mary born 1887 Charles born 1890 Annie C. born 1891 Christiana born 1893
There may be other children born after the 1901 census.
Louisa Laveck Faubert was the sister of my McLean daughters' 3X great grandfather Alexander Laveck born about 1843 who married Catherine Reavie at Tweed in Hastings County. He and Catherine also lived in Elzevir Township, and I suspect other siblings lived there as well. One other brother was Leander Laveck, sometimes shows up as Andrew Laveck who married Jane Arney who was born in Australia. They also lived at Elzevir.
I do have more information that I have put together as I continue to work on this extended Laveck family. Louisa, Alexander and Leander's parents were John and Mary Laveck born in Quebec. John MAY have been a son of a Francis and Jane Laveck who were in Hungerford in 1861, both from Quebec, born in the late 1700's.
If anyone has any information please write to me. Would love to hear from descendents who would be my daughters' distant cousins.
