The William W. Davis I am researching was born c1801, married an unknown Mother first time around and she had Regina,(married William Pogue) Ensley and Jasper Davis. William W. Davis then married 27 Dec 1836 Lowndes County, AL the widow of Richard Faulk Sarah (unknown last maiden name) unknown . They had no children. I DON'T know anymore than what I have posted here about William W. Davis.
1) Does ANYONE have any ideas? Does anything from below look familiar to you?
2) My husband's siblings are telling me there is an Indian connection but after many many years of research still believe that is not so.
3) Could this William Davis relates to Pressley and Ransom Davis?
4)Does anyone recgonize anything from the two email portions pertaining to their Davis family?
Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze help if you can.
I have received the following from emails and still cannot locate where this William Davis belongs.
"These are the names that appear in the index of the Dallas County, Alabama Orphan's Court records for the years 1818 through 1827 and the page number of the court record they appear in. Some of these are estate records for those who died intestate, others are the names of judges, orphans left behind, and those recorded as guardians. Where it is noted in the index ,they also shown here".
"In Lowndes, all of these people are in the same township less than 5 miles apart. There are no other Davises or Faulks buying federal land in this township. Richard Faulk and William Davis file on the same day - 05/15/1837. Richard in section 18 and William in section 20. They are less than 2 miles apart. About 2 months later, William files in section 18 . A month later he files again in section 20 and 2 days later Sarah files in section 18. Thus, Richard, Sarah, and William end up only a fraction of a mile apart in 1837. This suggests to me that Richard and Sarah are closely related and this is the William Davis that becomes related to Sarah.
It is also possible that this William Davis relates to Pressley and Ransom Davis. Ransom's section 20 is adjacent to sections 18 & 19. Pressley's section 31 is only 2 miles away from section 19".
