I believe that William Jasper Faulkner/Fortner is of the line I have been researching.
His father was Allen Faulkner/Fortner and wife Martha ? (the surname is interchangeable with some decendants taking the Faulkner surname and some taking the Fortner surname).
Allen Faulkner/Fortner b. April 1799 Edgefield District, SC. d. June 1887 Webster Co., MS. buried Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Mantee, Webster Co., MS. was the son of Nathaniel/Nathan Faulkner/Fortner, Sr. b. ca. 1770 SC. d. bet. 1853-1859 Chickasaw Co. or Choctaw Co., MS. and his first wife (name unknown) b. bef. 1775 d. prob. 1821-1824 Edgefield District, SC. (this is my speculation).
It is debatable how many times Nathan, Sr. married.Records are scarce due to the destruction during the Civil War and subsequent county courthouse burnings. It appears to me Nathan, Sr. had at least 3 wives possibly 4:
1.) Wife (name unknown) listed on 1800/1810 and 1820 Edgefield District, SC. censuses (b. bef. 1775).
2.)Wife named Margaret ? cited in two deeds dated 1826, Edgefield District, SC. and 1830 Edgefield District, SC. census. This Margaret could be the wife on the 1800-1820 Edgefield censuses but not the wife listed on the 1830 Edgefield census who was listed as 20 - 30 yrs. old.I believe this Margaret was 2nd wife and that Nathan, Sr.'s 1st wife died before the birth of daughter Mary Amanda (ca. 1826) and the signing of the 1826 Edgefield District, SC. deeds (there was an 11 year gap between birth of children between 1815 and 1826).
3.)Wife also name Margaret ? cited in 1840 Choctaw Co., MS. census; 1850 Chickasaw Co., MS. census and 1860 Choctaw Co., MS. census. If Nathan, Sr. had only 3 wives then this Margaret was placed in the wrong age category on the 1840 census (the wife on the 1840 Choctaw Co., MS. census was listed as 20-30 yrs. old (b.1810-1820) whereas Margaret listed on the 1850-1860 MS. censuses was 44 yrs. old and 55 yrs. old respectively (b. 1805-1806 GA. or SC.).The 1837 Choctaw Co., MS. State Census and the 1841 Chickasaw Co., MS. State Census doesn't help clarify this situation as Nathan Sr's. wife was only listed in the females 16+ age category.
Children of Nathaniel/Nathan Faulkner/Fortner, Sr. (this is my analysis and is subject to correction).

2.)Sarah Letha Faulkner/Fortner b. ca. 1800 Edgefield District, SC. d. aft. 1850 Upshur District, TX. married Reuben Carpenter, Jr. abt. 1820 Edgefield Co., SC. (this is my conjecture).

There could have been other children as there was a gap in births between 1802 and 1805/1806 and 1806/1810.There was also another male listed in Nathan Sr.'s 1820 household who was under 10 yrs. old but have not been able to identify him and he did not appear on the 1830 St. Clair Co., AL. census.
