Blanca, my father tells me that all of our family, the FAZ and GOMEZ came from Cedral, San Luis Potosi, MX.My gggrandfather was Luz Faz (don't know anything else). My ggrandfather, Alberto Faz was married to Panfila Rodriguez, their children were Donaciano, Rumaldo, Elfego, Abraham, Alberto, Andrea, Lucita and Juana (my grandmother).
My grandmother, Juana Faz married my grandfather Carlos Gomez, and their children were,my father, Carlos Gomez (born around 1926 or 27) (my mother is Juanita Almazan), Jose Natividad (1929?), Rosa Maria (1931?), Adalberto Jose Felix (1933?) (AKA Beto, and he was also a deaf/mute), Jesus (1935?), twins-Juan & Juana Maria (1937?), Ramiro (1939?), Juan Manuel (1940?), Maria De Los Angeles Francisca (AKA Kika), Armando (1947?) and Guadalupe.
My father, Carlos Faz Gomez, lives in Pueblo, Colorado and is now married to Nora Solano Romero. My Tio Armando, who is very close to my age, I was born in 1949, last I heard he had remarried and was living somewhere in California.About four years ago, when I was first starting to collect data on my family and ancestors, I just picked up the telephone and requested to be connected to an operator in San Luis Potosi, MX.Although I speak Spanish, I am not as fluent at it as I would like, so after getting an english speaking operator, I explained my dilema to her and told her to please just connect me with any one with the name of FAZ-GOMEZ or GOMEZ-FAZ.I spoke with a gentleman for a rather lenthy period before he asked me, "Y tu sabes con quien hablas?", and of course, I didn't, well, he proceeded to tell me "tu hablas con Juan Manuel Gomez Faz, hermano de tu padre!".You can imagine my excitement, I mean, what are the odds of just picking someone out of a phonebook and actually getting your relative, I mean I haven't been as successful finding my relatives doing this research.Anyway, my Tio Juan Manuel was a mite suspicious of my intentions and my need to know my family, you see, I never got to meet my grandparents, and the only uncle I know is my Tio Armando (he used to be totally cool when I met him in high school, I guess cause of the closeness of our age). And I used to write to the my Tia Juana Maria when I was like 14/15 yrs old, then I lost touch.
Sadly, I was unable to get any answers to my questions about family from my Tio Juan Manuel, he seemed rather distant.I know that my Tio Juan Manuel has four children, Rosio, Juan Manuel, Laura, and Gerardo. Also, my stepmother told me that my Tio Juan Manuel was also once a very good stage actor in Mexico City. When I spoke with him four years ago, he was at his place of business, he runs some kind of store (electronics?), not sure. Then, he just stopped writing.Oh, and also, my Daddy says that my grandparents ran or managed a railroad station (or something to that effect).
So Blanca, do you think we're related?I will continue to dig and research, if I find anything else I will send it to you, and likewise.e-mail me at: [email protected]
God Bless
