Death of Andrew Feeney. After an Illness of Only 26 Hours, Friday, Aug. 12, '98 - Aged 72 Years - A Highly Respected Resident of Batavia for Fifty Years - A Good Man Has Gone
At his home in East Batavia, Friday, Aug. 12, '98 at 9:15 p.m. Mr. Andrew Feeney, passed peacefully away after a brief illness of 26 hours, aged 72 years.
Up to Thursday night before, he was apparent in perfect health, but soon the mystical death can come, and but a few hours after his Spirit had departed to its maker. He was stricken with a form of paralysis and soon became unconscious and remained so up to death. So his life passed out gently and without conscious pain.
Andrew Feeney was born in Glen Island, County Mayo, Ireland, in 1826. He came to Batavia from his far distant home fifty years ago and has been a respected law-abiding citizens all these years. He was a good husband, a worthy neighbor and friend, and we never heard one speak ill of him.
The universal admiration and esteem he was held in was plainly proven by the very large concourse of sorrowing friends who turned out to this funeral and burial, being one of the largest funeral processions that has passed through the streets of Batavia in many months.
Deceased leaves 4 daughters and 5 sons with the sorrow stricken wife to mourn his loss.
Funeral was held Sunday, Aug. 14, conducted by Rev. Father Rathz, and the remains were interred in West Aurora Cemetery. In his death a good man has gone. ========= I am not related to nor researching this family and have no further information.
