Thanks for responding. As Shirley Wilcox noted in her reply I gave the wrong date of birth of Jacob. It was John who was b in 1790. The Feese list on GenForum is more active for this family name and the Rootsweb Fies Surname List is the more active list on that board.
You and my mother were third cousins.
Shirley was that finally put together the best evidence we have seen to identify the father of John and of Shirley's ancestor, Jacob (John's brother). Family tradition and other evidence indicated that John and Jacob were the sons of Jacob and that the family had lived in Pennsylvania. But many of us had searched for years to find the elder Jacob in Pennsylvania. This has been discussed on the Rootsweb Fies list. If you don't have it, I am happy to share information with you.
I have information on your line only down to your grandfather, Walter. This is what I know about him: WALTER SCOTT FEES, b 1887; d in Kansas in 1964; m HELEN HUNT.
Taking a look at the censuses, it looks like he and Helen married between 1910 and 1920 and had a son Walter S., b ca 1917. Is this your father?
What is the source for the middle initial "T." in John T. Fees?
Better verification of John's ancestry and links to a possible line of Fies descendants in Pennsylvania will probably take DNA testing of male descendants of the various branches. If you have a male relative surnamed Fees, I will be happy to provide information on this valuable genealogical tool.
