The Tyron County/Herkimer County area of upstate NY is the longtime Vetter/Feeter/Feader homeland. It's worth a visit if you want your "blood to feel at home."
You'll see why our German ancestors came here along the Mohawk River. I'm sure it reminded them of their homeland.
Many sites arestill able to be seen that were there when the Vetters arrived in 1750s. And you can find Col. William Feeter's gravestone next to his wife Maria (Bellinger) Feeter's stone at the old Yellow Church Cemetery, up the hill, north of Little Falls, New York.
Across the valley to the east, all by itself on a gently rounded hill is the Snell's Bush Church where many generations of Feeter, and allied Snell-Timmerman-Zimmerman family members -- worships...and where more Feeters are buried than any of we Feeters have EVER been around alive! Quite an experience to be in the area, known as Manheim; just north of the Mohawk River...a tad east of Little Falls where some Feeter descendants can still be found 250+ years later.
See ya there someday!
