A pedigree chart on the family tree of Josphine Welder and Marvin Eckman was prepared in 1986 by Jo Eckman Rt.1 Box 342 Bismarck, ND 5801 (701) 222-8618.The chart lists the first ancesteral Feist of the Welder family as Rosina Feist wife of Anton Welder. Rosina was the duaghter of Mike Feist and Katherine Burghardt. Mike Feist was one of the children of Robert Feist and Francisca Fettig. (my Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother) Robert was born in Strassburg, USSR, the son of Nicolaus Feist and Margaretha Schall. Nicolaus was born in 1779 and Margaretha on Sept 15, 1782. There is no rcord of where they were born in Germany, but theywere married on January 10, 1804 in Eberbach, Germany. Nicolaus was the son of Johannes Feist, who was born in Kaitenberg, Germany and Eva Maria Griesbach. Johannes Feist wasa son of a Jacob Feist of Kaitenberg. Nicolaus and Margaretha had four children by 1816. They were Alois (Aloysius born Dec. 29, 1806), Anton (born 1811, Johannes (born Nov. 22, 1804 and died in 1816) and Margareta (born in 1816). Records of other children born in Strassburg have not been released by USSR officials. However, only one Feist, namely Nicolaus, from Eberbach went to Stassburg and family history tells us that Robert was the son of Nicolaus Feist of Strassburg, USSR. All of Robert Feist's children except Stephan came to America from Strassburg. It is possible that Jakobina Feist in you family line is the daughter of yet another child of Nicolaus and Margaretha and a niece of Robert Feist.
You should be aware that the history of Bavaria, Wurttemberg, and Baden, Germanyincludes being in the Confedereation of the Rhine with Napoleon as their Protector. The constant changes in the govening of the aea caused the Nicolaus Feist and his family, during the time of Cahterine the Great, to leave Eberbach, Elsass (a part of the Confederation of the Rhine) and go to Strassburg, USSR in 1809.
In addition to Mike Feist (born Nov 1, 1846 died June 27, 1923), Robert Feist and Francisca Fettig five other children. They were; Christine Feist (husband Andreas Burghardt), Leopold Feist (born Jan. 6, 1853 died Nov. 21, 1917 - wife Rosina Schweitzer), Benedict Feist (born Dec. 30, 1853 died Sept. 30, 1916 - wife Sophia) Stephan Feist (born 1858 died 1923 - wife Margatet Schlosser), and Joseph Feist (born March 24, 1861 - died Nove. 24, 1919 - first wife Ceceilia Ulrich, second wife Anna Kuntz Wolbaum).
Joseph Feist and Cecelia Ulrich had six children; Katherin (husband Alex Neigum), Frances (husband John Lacher), Mike (wife Rose Wolbaum), Elizabeth (husband Steve Benfiet), Joseph (died at age one), Andrew (wife Caoline Werner. Joseph Feist and and second wife Anna Kuntz-Wolbaum had six children; My father Jacob Christ Feist (wife Katherine Martin), Cecelia (died as a infant), John (Wife Regina Schlosser), Steve (died as an infant), Vincent (wife Margaret Frederick), and Anna (husband Henry Becknell).
Leopold Feist and Rosina Schweitzer had eight children Frances, Marian, Margaet, Markus, Kathern, Magdelena, Philipina, and Cecelia. Philipina married Adam Masseth and they lived in Napoleon, ND. My father frequently spoke of his relatives and the name Masseth was often tied to the friends and relatives of the Robert Feist line of the family Feist.
According to Helen Krum, a great-granddaughter of Robert Feist and grand daughter in the Stephan Feist line, many of the church records on births, baptisms, etc were lost in 1945 when the church sexton was fleeing the USSR on the way to Germany.
Stephan Feist and Margaret Schlosser (who continured to live in Strassburgh, USSR had six children; Martha (husband Anton Goldade - came to America), Fancisca (husband Mike Marzini), Veronica (husband Augustine Reinhardt), Rochus (wife Julia Reinhardt), Joseph (wife Fenevieve Roehrich), and Steven (wife Mariana Rodecher). Most of the children of Stephan and Margaret were taken bu the Russian authorities at the end of the war in 1945 and moved to Siberia and contact was lost. Steven and Mariana returned to Germany and that line of the family reappearend in Stuttegart. Among their children are Jospeh, Lydia, Bertha, Helen.
This is all the information I have on the Feist's from Strassburg, USSR and since all of these Feist's can be traced back to Nicolaus and Margaretha it could be that we are distant relatives and this information may tie in with information you may have already gathered or heard in the telling of the history of the Feist's of Strassburg, USSR.
