Do you know where they eventually settled in? I have a ship's manifest dated 1880 that shows a John Felan aged 23 coming to the U.S.

Could he possibly be a son? Most of us in this forum here are hispanics in Texas. That is due to the pact made between Mexico and Irish immigrants during the war in 1845. Mexico petitioned to these guys to not fight against their faith. In South Texas there still is the towns of San Patricio and Refugio. Also John McGloin was given land grants by Mexico in the 1820's.
