I doubt if all variations are related, but I believe that the one's in and around Greene County during the late 1700's, early 1800's, and their descendents are. Adam and my Jacob were both from PA at one time, and had ties with German families. Adam was German, and I believe my Jacob was also. His wife, Caterina, was of German descent, the daughter of Jost Jorge/George. The best I can figure is that Adam Gefeller's last name was "Americanized" with Jorge/George as an example. The census records have Jacob G. Feller, and his siblings likewise. There are people here in the area who all come from Adam Gefeller, with the last names Gefeller(s), G'Feller(s), and Feller(s). Why my own ancestors names changed to Fillers is a mystery to me. I am also exploringthe possiblity that "Gefeller" may be a name of Jewish origin, but it's only a theory of mine. Their is a Jewish word which I've heard that sounds similer.
