Hi Sioux
My husbands ancestor Edward Finnesey/Fennesey was born in Ireland around 1822 according to the 1851 census of Liverpool. His fathers name was Richard and I have found a Richard F., labourer in the 1832 Manchester directories. Edward(rag and bone dealer), William (porter)and James F. are all listed in the 1843/5 directories, and I managed to find James in the 1841 Manchester census. He was a cotton spinner aged 20 born in Ireland with a Catherine F. also aged 20 and another James aged 1 born in Lancs. I dont suppose this is your James, but they may all be related.
Have you seen Richard J. Fennessy's book on Fennessy of the County Tipperary yet? I assume thats where our Fenneseys originated from, but unfortunately no proof so far. Have you got the name of your James' father?
Good luck with the Fennessey hunting!
