I found a reference of a marriage between the following on Family Tree Maker Marriage CD #5: FENTER, Lafayette to HAYGOOD, Martha E, 31 January 1865 in Copiah County, Mississippi.
Who were the parents of this Lafayette Fenter? Since the marriage happened at the close of the Civil War, was this Lafayette one of the FENTER boys who was born in Arkansas, and was a Confederate soldier? Did this couple remain in Mississippi or did they go to Arkansas, Texas or another state?
The copy of the Copiah Co, MS 1870 Census was a bad copy, and I may have missed this family. Are they listed on the Mississippi 1870 census index? If yes, would you please give me the reference?
I found a Martha HAYGOOD on the 1860 Copiah County, MS census, at age 13, listed as one of 6 children living with Rachael HAYGOOD, age 38, farmer, page 104, sheet 876, dwelling #726 family 728. Is Martha E. HAYGOOD in the marriage of 1865 and the Martha HAYGOOD on the 1860 Copiah County, MS the same person?
Is the Lafayette (Lafayet) FENTER on the 1865 marriage the same person as the Marquis De L FENTER, age 8 on the 1850 census of Hot Spring County, Clear Creek Township, living with the James and Sally (FENTER) MARTIN family (page 283 Dwelling 152, family 163)? I've been told a Marquis Lafayette FENTER was killed in the Civil War.
I'm trying to tie this couple in with my great grandfather James Henry FENTER of Hot Spring, Saline and Grant Counties in Arkansas, 1850-1900.
