Thanks for all of your information! It's nice to find a new "cousin"!Arthur Peay was married to Lillie Evan Speer (b.4/18/90 and died sometime in the 1970's- my mom will look it up to make sure). We don't know anything about Lillie's family other than she had a sister named Ayla who lived in Hot Springs, Ark. I am guessing that Lillie was from KY or somewhere nearby since Catherine was born in South Carrollton. Lillie wasn't very nice to Catherine, my grandmother, so Arthur Peay decided that Catherine should live in Hot Springs with her Aunt Ayla since he farmed in Oklahoma (and Mississippi for a short while) and couldn't always be around. Catherine grew up between Oklahoma (around Prague, where I grew up)and Hot Springs. My mom said Catherine came back often because she loved her dad dearly. I know Catherine wasn't very old when the family left KY and moved west. My mom also tells the story of the family coming into Oklahoma/Indian territory and the officials tried to sign Lillie up on the Indian rolls because of her dark eyes and hair (she is no Indian that we are aware of).
Arthur Peay died 11/13/1953 and is buried in the Prague, OK cemetery.Catherine married Ernest Glimp of Prague and they lived in and around Prague until she died in March of 2006.My mom is Barbara Glimp Hutchens and she had one brother named Larry (who died a few years ago).I have one other sister named Catherine Hutchens Moring.
I think it's wonderful that you still live on the original property.I would love to come see it someday!I know my grandparents went back to KY sometime in the 1960's to see what was still there, but Catherine didn't know anyone so I don't think there was any contact made.
Thank you again for all of your help! It's so interesting to learn about everybody! Please let me know if you want any information from me.I will be happy to try to help!
