There is a Mark Fernald of St George, Charlotte, N.B. whose name appears a number of times, he was born abt 1792, He is in the census records. as well as Anglican Church records. I saw a transcribed baptism record that may be him. But the last name apparently was not completely legible as the document had a ? for the spelling. (Fergrate?) of Pennfield, (Pennfield and St George are next to each other) 2 children baptized on August 26, 1827 Mary Anne Fergrate 8 yrs. & 10 mos. and George Washington Fergrate 5 years, 11 mos. children of Mark & ______. I can find no other Fergrates listed. But there are Fernald's and Ferguson's.
There's also an Amey Fernald listed as a witness to a wedding. Perhaps Mark's wife or sister.
1851 St George has Mark Fernald age 60 and Colin Fernald age 16 lodging with the Woodbury family.
I am making leaps, because of the possible mistransciptions, but I suspect that Colin Fernald may be the grandson of Mark and probably illegitimate son of Mark's possible daughter Mary Ann. From another baptism record - Nov 7 1841 Colen Banister FAINOLD5 yrs, Thomas MILLAR & Mary Ann FAINOLD Pennfield
