found George W. again, in Daniel F Johnson's New Brunswick Newspaper Vital Statistics, Daniel F. Johnson : Volume 11 Number 1563
Date July 10 1846 County Saint John Place Saint John Newspaper Weekly Chronicle
m. St. Luke's Church, Portland (St. John) by Rev. Harrison, George W. FERNALD / Miss Emily BROWN both of St. Martins parish.
I suspect Alexander B. Fernald is the son of George (Washington) Fernald and Emily Brown by N.B. census records in 1851 and 1861
I suspect George is the son of Mark Fernald and Ann Y. McNeill. based on proximatey to the same area from his marriage record and possible baptism record that would need to be seen to see if my hunch is correct about the possible mistranscription.
Ann's father is Daniel McNeill, son of William MacNeill of Scotland. according to Fergy on rootsweb William lived in Machais, Maine, then Daniel's family moved to Beaver Harbour N.B. which is an unincorperated village near Pennfield and St George! Fergy lists 4 daughters whose names connect with records I saw associated with Mark Fernald. Sarah McNeill married James Trook, (also in Dan Johnson's newspaper article)
Est. John TROKE, St. George parish, Charlotte Co., Yeoman; Admin.: Mark FERNALD, James TROKE, 2 July (1821).
Elizabeth married John Woodbury, (1851 Mark lived with Woodbury's) Molly married Daniel Wilson,(I did not see that name associated yet.) and Ann married Mark Fernald.
If I am correct, Mark and Ann had at least 2 children Mary Ann who may be the mother of Colin Fernald probably born illegitamatly. and George Washington Fernald (funny name if he were the son of a loyalist!)
