Hello all especialy Steve and Tom. You guys have worked so hard on this. My father John has given me so much on our side of the family and I hope I will be able able to fill in the missing links although dad is not working at the speed we are he is intrested in all the outcomes as is my brother David His Son Andrew (who arrived in the UK last Saturday for an extended stay. You may de able to meet with his if you wish)and my son Matt.Fiestly I have a copy of a document which portrays to have the early record of the name. It stated that Richard de la Fernyhalgh of Staffordshire appeares in the Pardon's roll during the reign of Richard II (1377-1399)Other mentions are of the Exchequer Depositions which mention Thomas Fernihaugh v henery Bradshaw in Cheshire in 1669 and William Fernihaugh, merchant v Daniel danviers, sugar baker in Linconshire in 1693. Was enyone aware of this info? Syeve my dad sent me the same photo as you had sent me of his grandfather. The photo was taken in 1915.John is the man in the uniform who died from injuiries received in 1917. This may explain why there is no record of him in the war graves etc.The young man on the left is Thomas. My grandfather was not in the photo as he was in france in uniform at the time. As mentioned before my Father John Herbert William Fernyhough was one of four children. I also find it amazing that there has always been a William Fernyhough. My Grandfather, my dad, My self Paul Michael William Fernyhough and my son Mathew Ryan William Fernyhough. My Grand son though is not a Fernyhough but I did manage to keep the linkage as he is Shayde THOMAS Martin. I digress.
