Hello Kathleen, I must first ask your forgiveness if I didn't get back to you in Dec. I have no recollection of receiving a message from you. My dad was very ill at the time and has since passed on. I am just getting back to tracing our family. Our family of Feron came from the county Armagh, possibly Kilmore Parish, in Ireland. I have had an awful time trying to trace them down. One of the problems is the spelling of the name. Side by side in St. James Catholic Cemetery in Colgon, Ontario are the graves of my great great grandmother and her son. Her name is Ellen Feron. On the son's grave it says he is the son of Ellen and Francis Faron. Francis, Ellen's husband is not listed on the stone as being buried with Ellen. It just states that she is the wife of Francis. I found the original homestead of her son in Achill Ontario, not far from the cemetery. I cannot find when they first arrived in Canada. Ellen had a son named Bernard. His wife's name was Alice.I cannot find much more on him.The family seemed to be spread out in Ontario, Michigan and California. One of Ellen's grandson's is listed as being born in Illinois while his sisters and brothers were all born and raised in Ontario ( at least as far as I can find). My grandmother, who was the sister of the son born in Illinois, used to do a lot of travelling to the States, going to California andMichigan. She may have made a trip or two to Illinois also. She resided in Ontario and is buried in Toronto. I know this seems rather confusing . It really is. But I will keep plugging away at it.
