I just found your May 17, 2000 post. I did some looking at a site where you enter surname and it shows a map and little red dots where your surname is located. When I entered FIERS it came back with WAASLAND and it was solid red. As I understand it, Waasland is now western Belgium. The farther I moved away from Waasland the more the red dots thinned out. I don't know if that means the Fiers name originated in Waasland or not but that's where the concentration of Fiers are the heaviest. I don't know any more about the American Fiers than Mary Galgan. She and I have talked many times. I'm sure there must be some American Fiers who aren't related to William but haven't found them yet.
