Hi Finkle Forum...Yes, I am still searching for the proof that Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry FINKLE U.E. & his wife Lucretia BLEECKER or perhaps just Henry's dau.So many say yes, Elizabeth was Henry and Lucretia's dau. but without proof.I am searching for something specific or even close to proof which I can work on.I am now faced with trying to comprehend why, if she was Henry's daughter, there is no record of a land grant in her name. Any comments or advice would be appreciated. According to Reid's "The Loyalists in Ontario", pg 110, Henry FINKLE m. Lucretia Blacker, Bleecker, Bleeker with the notation to "see lot 26, con 6 Sidney twp"Listed are those children who applied for a land grant:
Nancy m. John Crysler of Williamsburgh, ON.O.C. 3 March 1809. George of Hamilton, ON.O.C. 12 Nov 1817. Maria m. Solomon Johns of the Town of Kingston, ON.O.C. 13 June 1818. Sarah m. Henry Gildersleeve of the Town of Kingston, ON. O.C. 11 Feb 1836. Minerva m. James McCutcheon of Kingston, ON. O.C. 11 Feb 1836. William of Fredericksburgh, ON.O.C. 8 Nov 1832.
For any of you reading this who are not familiar with O.C., it means "Orders in Council" & is invaluable in research. It is the date that a son or daughter of a Loyalist received free land.A daughter is usually signified as (DUE). Often, with the Petitions, there is a great deal of genealogical information. Any assistance would be appreciated...Sid
