Billy, I also have been trying to determine the parents of Robert E. Finklea Sr. b. abt 1882 in Louisiana; mar in 1906 to Lula (I did not have her maiden name but I see you show Lula Ethel Sanders)who was b. abt 1889 in Alabama. The 1910 Census indicates 2 children at that time - (1) May b. 1907 in Louisiana; (2) Robert E. b. 1908 in Louisiana.
You probably have more information on Robert E. Finklea Jr. b. 1908 than I do, but some details not shown in your posting as follows: He married Inez Burleson b. 18 Dec 1909; d. 12 July 1995 bur Union Hill Cem Cass Co., Texas. After Robert E. Finklea died in 1938 she married a Latham. From the cemetery record, I believe Inez was the dau of Plesant W. Burleson and Arcadia Whittle Burks.
I believe that your Robert Elly Finklea line ties to the Elly Finklea branch of South Carolina. He also had a son named Elly that migrated to Texas. I am presently working on this line as some of this branch moved to Louisiana and some then on into Texas. Some of the Stephen R. Finklea branch who were in Louisiana moved on to Arizona and then some of their descendants moved on into California.Anyway, I believe your branch will tie back into Elly Finklea b. abt 1810/1815 Marion Co., SC and mar (1) name not known and (2) Elizabeth Moody. Elly had several children and your Robert E. is probably a descendant of one of his children. After Elly died Elizabeth (Moody) left SC and after a few years showed up in Texas.I have located her grave and two of her children's graves. As I mentioned, I am still researching this family and believe that your Robert E. fits into this Finklea branch. He may fit into one of the branches of children by his first wife however. If you have any additional details other than what you show in your posting, it might be helpful in sorting this puzzle out. Perhaps together we can solve it.My e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org Dave Rayburn at Fort Worth
