VerShaun, I read your message with some of the Finner history with a great deal of interest.
You see, I am from a finner line that seems to have come out of North Carolina. My brothers, sisters and I werte raised by foster parents following our mother's death.
The family history I can piece together is as follows:
Mother Laura Finner born 1 Jan 1920 in North Carolina, and came to New York with her maternal grandmother (first nameunknown Finner) in 1925.
Records show that Laura Finner and her grandmother lived James Lyas in New York until his death in 1939.
Laura Finner's grandmother died in 1941 of cancer.
Laura Finner had three brothers and one sister, birth dates unknown.
Brother: George Finner and his wife Beatrice Finner, New York City
Brother: Garfield Finner, address then unknown Brother: Jessie Finner, address then unknown Sister:Rose Mason, Last address in 1949 Portsmouth, VA.
My sisters and brothers are:
Antoinette Finner, born 1945, New York City, address unknown Kathleen Finner, born 1947, New York City, address unknown Donald Gene Finner, born 1951 New York City, address unknown
As you can see there are a lot of my family out there I can't find, and I am having little luck tracing the family back to anywhere.
We are all of a light complexion, therefore I suspect there was a caucasion's involvement somewhere in North Carolina. Without a connection I can't trace back to the Finner family who gave us their name to start with.
Do you think there is any connection with our two families somewhere in the South?
I would be glad to hear from you to explore the possibility.
