I too am looking for my family. My Dad used to say that a lot of the Finnertys had moved across the river (Hudson) to NJ; he mentioned Hoboken & Jersey City. I think I may have cousins from that group.
His father was James J Finnerty (ca 1889-1926).He was a fireman and died three days after fighting a fire from smoke inhalation, leaving three boys, Frank, Thomas & James, and his widow Ellen (Helen)T. (nee Curran) Finnerty. They lived at 521B E 86th St for many years. All three boys went to PAL camps & were great swimmers, and went to Stuyvesant H.S. & to Columbia on scholarship. My father, Thomas, skippered a PT boat in WW II. Frank became an engineer and James a thoracic surgeon; my father was in the NYPD many years, then the IRS.
James' (1889-1928)own parents were Thomas & Mary (Elizabeth?) Finnerty. They were married in St Patrick's Cathedral (because for them it was her parish church).
There was an "Auny Nanny Primont" if I remember right.
That is nearly as nuch as I know. Is anyone connected to these Finnertys?Thank you!
