My husband is a Finucane who family is from the Woodmere, NY families (Taylor is his adopted name by his stepfather).I have info on that family.I have traced them as far back as the Civil War.Matthew Finucane served with Co. B, 15th reg. NY Engineers. After the war he was a cop in Queens. He civil war records say he was born in Ireland but can't find record of him before the war and can't find record of him coming over here on the boats.
He married Mary A., they had Thomas J. who was born in Woodmere and died in Inwood. He married Elizabeth Jackson. They had Joseph Conklin Finucane Who married Roseanna McInerney. She was born in Cahircontesh, Ireland. They had Thomas Joseph Finucane in Woodmere who was my husbands father.
I have more info and detail but that will give you an idea of the connections. Most of the family are buried in the Trinity-St. John's Episcopal Church in Hewlett, LI, NY.1142 Broadway, Hewlett 11557.There is a Finucane Place closeby where the family house still stands and I believe the earliest farm they lived on in the 1800s was situated there.
Joseph Conklin Finucane and his wife (Roseanna) are buried down the road at the St. Mary's Star by the Sea Cemetary in Lawrence.
There are about 15 family members buried in Trinity so they were there for awhile.I know how they are connected if anyone is interested.
