My great, great grandmother, Ellen Finucane, married John O'Shaughnessy, a tailor probably either in Clare or Galway County. They had 6 sons, 5 born in Ireland and the youngest, my great grandfather born in Montreal, Canada in 1848.We have a very old flax wheel in the family with the initials A.F. stamped on it.Family lore says that the flax wheel belonged to Agnes Finucane.
The O'Shaughnessy family, to include Ellen Finucane-O'Shaughnessy and the 5 sons emigrated to Montreal.Son #6 was born in Montreal, so we are assuming John O'Shaughnessy made it to Montreal, though we can find no record of him there. The others are recorded living and being buried in Montreal, except my great grandfather, son #6, who slipped into the US to avoid imprishonment due to his Fenian activities, so he said.
