Charles "Chick" Policar, Sr., 90, died May 11, 2010 at Equinox Terrace in Manchester, VT. He was born in Guilford, CT on October 14, 1919, the son of Joseph and Lena (Fippinger) Policar.
Charles was a carpenter and electrician by trade and was employed by Landon & Hall Company in Guilford, CT, Tale-New Haven Hospital in New Haven, CT and retired from the Maintenance Department of the Madison, CT school system in 1985. He moved to Florida where he resided for 22 years before moving to Vermont in 2007.
He is survived by two daughters, Marion Fessenden and her husband Ted of Londonderry, VT and Geraldine Augeri and her husband Mike of Warren, MA; two sisters, Evelyn (Policar) Heser of Largo, FL and Geraldine (Drum) Pinder of Safety Harbor, FL; seven grandchildren, Michael Augeri and his wife Laurete, Robert Fessenden, Richard Fessenden, Teresa (Augeri) Boelke and her husband Brendan, James Policar and his wife Joyce, Timothy Pendleton, and Deborah (Pendleton) Barden; seven great-grandchildren, Michael Policar, Evan Fessenden, Sarah Augeri, Justin and Alex Barden, and Chase and Colby Pendleton.
Charles was predeceased by two wives, Josephine (Swanson) Policar in 1985 and Helen (Wall) Policar in 2004; a daughter, Melanie Pendleton in 1983, and a son, Charles J. Policar, Jr. in 1991; two brothers, William and Walter, and a sister, Edna (Drum) Schumack.
A Memorial Service will be held at Beaver Brook Cemetery in Clinton, CT at the convenience of the family. Brewster Funeral Service in Manchester, VT has been entrusted with the care of Mr. Policars' funeral arrangements.
