Hello Richard, Johann Reinhold Fischbeck, born 1862, presumably in Langenhausen, is NOT the one I'm looking for, but he is definitely the right family. The Henry I am looking for is Johann Heinrich Reinhold Fischbeck, born Oct. 20, 1843. A brother, Johann Jürgen Heinrich Friedrich Fischbeck was born Sept. 10, 1848. J H R emigrated at age 16 in 1859. He was a son of Johann Heinrich Fischbeck, mason in Bremervörde. Johann Heinrich Fischbeck was born Nov. 3, 1819 in Langenhausen, son of Johann Reinhold Fischbeck, mason in Langenhausen and gesche Ahrens. Johann Heinrich died Feb. 27, 1876in Bremervörde. He married Rebecka Zecher Nov. 6, 1842 in Bremervörde. Rebecka was born Nov. 9, 1813 in Bremervörde, a daughter of Cord Hinrich Zecher, linen weaver, and Maria Meyer.
As you can see, our respective Fischbecks are definitely related, quite possibly descended from brothers in one family.
I do not know Marsha Fischbeck Grimm in Schenectady, but I would be interested in knowing if she has more on 'my' side of the Fischbecks.
The California angle is of much interest, since I believe a John lived with 'my' Henry and his wife Adelheid in San Francisco.
