William M. Fischer, 89, of Lakewood, NJ, and a lifelong Bronx resident died on July 30th. Bill was a WWII Navy veteran. Bill was a CHSAA Hall of Fame Referee and Umpire. He worked for Rupperts Brewery as an Operating Engineer and retired from CCNY in 1987 as Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds.
Loving husband of Joan (Toner) and predeceased by Gertrude (nee Lyons). Dear father of Bill (Pat Brennan), Timmy, Larry (Kathleen) and John (Kathleen) and Joan's children, Joanne (Michael) Liscovitz, Jeff (Rose) Toner, Janet (Joe) Pientka. Cherished grandfather of 11. Beloved brother of Frances Puccinnelli and the late Edward.
Reposing Friday, 2-4 & 7-9 pm at Riverdale-on-Hudson Funeral Home, 6110 Riverdale Ave. Bronx. Mass of Christian Burial Saturday 9:45 am at St. Margaret of Cortona Church.
