Fissel from Ohio

I am 17 years old, and my dad is Zeno Mark Fissel, Jr. I was told that our name used to be spelled FISSELL, but due to a family squabble, the second "l" was dropped. I was just wondering if anyone knows our family, because there has been a lot of friction in our generations.
