I didn't realize they had transcribed and re-published the article on their web pages. But I had read the book earlier and have a number of citations from it. This is the same article Round included in his book, although the one I cited before is an updated version he published shortly after this one. In the latter article, which I have a copy of here, titled "The Origin of the Stewarts and their Chesney Connexion," Round covered much of the same ground except he focused more on the second marriage of Avelina d'Hesdin to Robert fitz Walter de Caen. Sanders gave the date of this second marriage as "bef. 1126" [English Baronies, p. 124 n. 8]. You probably noticed that on p. 130 of this article, Round stated that Alan [fitz Flaald] "may have lived, and probably did, beyond 1114." So that does net you at least a general date of death for Alan. Anyway, thanks for mentioning this.
