In October of 1994 I inherited this family history through my marriage to Kenneth W. Fitzkee, Jr. I found that in doing my own family research the Fitzkee family seemed to run so closely along mine that I found I could not pass it by. So I offer it here for those who may be actively seeking their own history. Enjoy.
Our Fitzky's come from Dorf-Erbach, Baden, Germany. There is a Fitzky Chronicles which myself and a few other researchers were grateful to receive from our "Cousin" DR Gerhard Fitzky of Germany. He also descends from Johan Leonhardt line. Unfortunately the chronicles are in German and none of us have been able to translate it satisfactorily. It does not however follow the Fitzky's to America and Canada. Luckily for us we have begun to network and compile our information. Hopefully to get it all together one day.
Philadelphia Naturalization Records show 3 Fitzkee's from Darmstadt, Hesse, Germany: Johann Simon Fitzkeenaturalized on 18 Sept 1838 George Adam Fitzkeenaturalized on 17 Sept 1844 Peter Williamnaturalized on 25 Aug 1856
Now Johann Simon and Adam settled in Lower Windsor Twp in the southern end. There they began raising their families. Some time after Peter Wilhelm Fitzkee arrived and settled in the southern end of the county along side Johan Adam's family. The family lines collected so far are as follows. ___________________________________________

Peter Wilhelm is my husbands connection to this family. Peter Wilhelm was born 25 Sept 1825 according to Gene F. Myers, a local historian. He also states that there were three brothers who were born in Germany. One died in Germany while the other two headed for the USA. Peter made it while the other was never heard from again. However I have my doubts in this story. read on and find out why.
Also, there is a John William and frau Rebecca recorded at Canadochly Lutheran and Reformed Church. This couple gave birth to a son John born on 27 Feb 1851, baptized on 24 May 1851. In the 1880 census there is a John 43& Rebecca 43. This could be a typo and be 48 instead. So Where does John William born about 1830 come from?
I recently found an Edward Fitzky b 1827, age 53, living in D.C. area. Edward is a Govt. Clerk and was living in the 1880 Washington, DC area in the household of Henry Krauskopf where he has a book of photographs of presidents recorded in the Library of Congress. Dated 1861. I think that is pretty darn close to the other Fitzky's, for the time period, for them not to be related. Perhaps Edward and John William are Peter W's brothers?
We can deduce that these three men Johan Simon, Adam and Peter Wilhelm are related. The fact that these men all settled in York Co. and that in the Lower Windsor Twp, York Co. PA 1880 Census, Adam Fitzkee 70 yrs was living in the home of Peter William Fitzkee, with the notation of relationship as "cousin."
Peter Wilhelm may be to son of either Johann Simon, Johann Zeigler or Johann George or even a second cousin. I have yet to find out.
Peter Wilhelm Fitzkee doesn't show up in any US records until in 1848 and married Clara Rosina Baringer in Philadelphia shortly after. They settled in Craley and there he learned carpentry and followed that trade for sometime before he bought a farm close to Craley that he assisted his son's in cultivating. Peter died in 1903. Clara stayed on at the homestead until she died in 1908. Their children were; Mary Elizabeth b.1852, Edward b. 1855 md. Mrs. John Wilkenson Augustus b. 1856 md. Amanda Hibner * John Simon b. 1858 md.
