Hi Larry, My Flahives did come from the Civil Parish of Ballinvoher, County Kerry, and I do have some information on the family you're describing, John and Catherine Lynch Flahive . They would be from the Townland Glentanes as listed in the 1852 Griffith's Valuation - spelling varied over the years ) and from the Catholic parish of Annascaul. You list their children as my great grandmother Bridget (1854), Ellen (1856), Elizabeth (1858) and John (1861). Son Thomas was born about 1849 (m. Mary Landers of Townland Ballinahunt) and Daughter Margaret was born about 1851 (m. Thomas McKenna of Townland Lougher)There may have been more children, including the Maurice you mention.
Ellen and Elizabeth are the only two known Flahive children of John and Catherine to immigrate. I don't know of others at this time. Ellen came first 1n 1883/4 and Elizabeth followed in 1886 or so. Both came to Syracuse, NY. Elizabeth married a John Crean and died in 1910. Ellen married a Patrick Sullivan and they had 4 children: Mary Sullivan ( m. a Ryan ) Elizabeth Sullivan ( m. Harold Deegan ) Patrick Sullivan John Sullivan Ellen Flahive Sullivan also died early in Syracuse, NY. If this sounds like the Ellen Flahive you are looking for, then we are definitely related . In which case, there's more to say. Looking forward to your response and would love to know the maiden name of the second set of John and Catherine Flahive you mention. Mary
