my brother david harris is aharris dna match with harris dna group 8, who trace back to our captain thomas harris 1611 of jamestown.
our specific harris line/ family is per our william harris/ judith hudson, who died in 1778 in lunenburg/ mecklenburg co, va, via his son our william harris, sr/ frances goode also there in lunenburg co, va by 1746, who, along with his son, my william harris, jr/ frances rodgers; my mackerness goode, sr; his son, our mackerness goode, jr, etc, obtained ca 1770 grants in laurens co, sc.
recently we have had an exact 67 marker match with someone who descends from turner harris/ jane webb of anson/ richmond cos, nc and the info definitely shows that his turner harris would have been related and probably grandson of sherwood harris, who died in 1805 in anson co, nc.
jordan flake, son of samuel flake, witnessed sherwood harris' 1805 anson co, nc will and some of the info says that samuel flake's 2nd wife sarah abigail/ alcy harris was the daughter of stephen harris, brother of my william harris/ judith hudson.
i cannot confirm this but i can confirm that my william harris/ judith hudson, who were in brunswick/ lunenburg co, va,sold 62 acres in 1743 in louisa co, va to his brother stephen harris of st martins parish, hanover co, va.
info says that elijah flake, son of samuel flake, married elizabeth williams, who per the info was the daughter of dudley williams/ nancy harris, daughter of sherwood harris, who died in 1805 in anson co, nc.
also, info says the jordan flakes' 2nd wife was faithy hanna, daughter of james hanna/ faitha madison, son of john hanna also of laurens co, sc.
so, there seems to be or is a lot of connections re our harris family also with your flake family there in anson/ richmond cos, nc.
i am hoping that some of you who descend from our flake/ harris families might become more involved with thisalso re our harris family to see if we could learn more and figure this all out.
