My Great Grandfather Michael Flannery b1879 d1932 immigrated to the US (New York) and lived in Manhattan.Married Catherine Conroy (might have been conury. b9/4/1877 d11/1969.
My grandparents told me that "Michael was from County Clare, the town of scariff but on the outskirts of the town called Ballaymalone"They visited Ireland in 1987 and went to Scariff and talked to an old couple who claimed to know the family but said "that whomever had been living in the fathers house had been gone for years" The couple gave my grandparents directions to the house/land quote from grandma "so we went down a road made a left and came to what was almost a forest. The entrance into Ballaymalone was fenced off but there was a sign saying Ballaymalone woods. That was as far as we got"
His siblings were Patrick Hugh (immigrated to NY) James Katie Mary (might have went to Australia)
I don't know if Patrick, James or Katie left Ireland.
I checked the results of the 1901 census online and found 1 Flannery Family in Ballymalone (spelled different then how my grandparents spell it) but the names of the siblings don't match (but there is a Hugh which seems to be a very unusual name).
I would appreciate any info on this area of Ireland, the family...I can't seem to find any info on "Ballaymalone" so any insight anyone can provide would be appreciated.
