dear lord My great-great grandfather was Thomas Flanagan, who married Julia Kelly! His son, my great grandfather was James Flanagan, who married Mabel Gillen! James ran a Sheetmetal bussiness in Brooklyn with his brtohers Tom and Jack, who I do not know much of. James owned the business and owned a house in Brooklyn, so you can bet there are records and deeds at the County Clerks office in Kings County. James died young of something I do not know, but the story goes that his brothers cut his widow Mabel out of his share of the business and Mabel and her children were left to poverty. This is why Mabel and her children were never close too James' brothers after his death. James was indeed born in Brooklyn, NY and had 7 children; William (Bill), John (Jack), Thomas, Catherine, Julia (Jewel), mary, and Emily. John Flanagan was my grandfather, and he married Alice Cornell (actually Connell) and had 6 children: Kevin, Lawrence, Doug, Shawn, Pete and Ellen. Ellen is my mother! I believe James, Jack, Tom, and some of James' children (including my grandfather) are buried in St. John's Cemetery In Queens, New York somwhere near section 15.
Where did you get your information!? I've been doing some family research of James and his father Thomas but have come up with nothing. All I have to go on is what was passed down to me through family lore. I know this was not the information you were looking for, but it seems we may be related.
