There were 2 couples with these same names. There was Johann 'Philip' Flick & Anna Maria Sheckler There was 'Philip' Heinrich Flick & Anna Maria (Jung)
Both couples went by Philip & Anna Maria.
Both couples seemed to live in the same general area and even seemed to have attended the Zion Stone Church at around the same time.
I have a passenger list showing that Philip H. landed in Philadelphia on 10/29/1785. The passenger list shows Philip Flick, Anna Maria Flick, John Flick Anthony Flick and Lewis Flick. There is a bracket to the right which seems to indicate that Anna Maria, John, Anthony and Lewis were all his children. Anna Maria is listed first among the children, right beneath Philip's name.
I have birth/baptism records from the Zion Stone Church showing the birth dates for three children of Philip and Anna Maria.Catharina b. 6/10/1787, Daniel b. 4/19/1789 and Anna Maria b. 4/15/1797. These three children were, I was told, the children of J. Philip & Anna Maria (Sheckler), not Philip H. & Anna Maria "Jung".
However, to confuse the matter, I also have a copy of Philip H. Flick's will, probated in 1809. In the will, in addition to his "beloved wife Anna Maria", he lists 2 sons indicating that they have left home. He mentions John and Ludwig (Lewis), and the lands upon which they now live. He also mentions 3 other children and seems to indicate that they are minors and/or still at home, Anthony, Daniel and Anna Maria. There is no mention of Catharina in the will.
This indicates to me that: The bracket showing Anna Maria as a daughter of Philip on the Brig. Lydia passenger list was a mistake and that Anna Maria was indeed his wife and that the two of them traveled to America with their three sons John, Lewis & Anthony. Later Philip H. & Anna Maria had three three other children, Catharina (who died in childhood), Daniel & Anna Maria. Since Catharina is not in the will, sometime between 1787 and 1809 she must have passed away. Daniel would have been 20 and Anna Maria 12 at the time the will was written.
Anna Maria is mentioned in the will, meaning she did come to America. It's unlikely she came at a later date.
Daniel & Anna Maria are also in the will, meaning they had at least 2 other children once in America. There are 2 Anna Maria's in the will and only one on the passenger list. This reinforces to me that it was the wife on the passenger list.
Since Catharina is listed along with Daniel and Anna Maria in the church records, I think it likely she was also a child of Philip H. & Anna Maria.
Does anyone have any extra information that could help clear up my confusion here? Really, I guess the only one I'm not sure of, would be Catharina.
