I have recently acquired copies of the baptismal records for Zion Church, Venango Twp., Crawford Co., PA. In those records there are 4 baptisms for children of Jacob and Catharina Flickinger - Jonas (1810), Susanna (1819), Maria Elizabeth (1820) and Johanna (1822). In addition, Jacob and Catharina are listed as Communicants at Zion Church on 17 Apr 1829.
I have also noticed that there were 3 children of a Jacob,"Jr." and Catharina Flickinger baptized at Egypt Reformed Church, Whitehall Twp.,Northampton (now Lehigh) Co., PA.- George (1800), Adam (1804) and Elizabeth (1806). Could this be the same Jacob and Catharina as found in the Crawford Co. records ?
In the Crawford Co. Census for the years 1800, 1810 and 1820, there is listed a Jacob "Flickenner" in Conneaut Twp. (1810) and Jacob "Fleckenger" in Rockdale Twp. (1820). In addition, there is a "Christopher Flickinger" listed in Conneaut Twp. (1800) and "Christ:Flickener" (again) listed in Conneaut Twp. (1810). The ages given in the 1810 Census shows Jacob as being 26-44 yr old and "Christ:" as being >44 yr old. Jacob's age is given as 26-44 yr old in the 1820 Census. (Christopher/ Christian is not found in the 1820 Census).
My theory is that Jacob and "Christian" Flickinger are brothers and both were sons of Jacob and Maria Elizabeth (Reiss) Flickinger (as found in the Egypt Reformed Church records). Can anyone confirm or deny this ?
