This is an obit for a former neighbor of mine in Jackson County, Ohio.I am no relation.
Harry Fling, age 85, Springer Road, Chillicothe, Jackson County, Ohio, passed away Monday, Nov. 10, 2003 at Heartland of Jackson.He was born Oct. 29, 1918 in Haydenville, Ohio, to the late Delmar and Nellie Louise (Wolfe) Fling.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother.He is survived by one son, Charles Woodall of Texas; two daughters, Barbara Lucio of Paulding, Ohio, Linda Avery of Texas; one sister, Mary Long of Cincinnati.Funeral service will be Friday, Nov. 14 at 1 p.m. at the Mayhew Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger Cartwright officiating.Calling hours will be two hours prior to the service on Friday.Burial will follow in the Fairmount Cemetery.

Note: His mailing address was Chillicothe, but he lived in Jackson County, so he doesn' t need to be posted on the Ross County site.People get confused by Chillicothe being the source of the mail delivery.
Harry told me he served in WW2 as an orderly in the Medical Corps.He once met General Patton and asked to be his driver.Patton told him "Son, I can get a driver anywhere.What you are now doing is much more important."Harry D. Fling was a jack-of-all-trades.
