Was your John Flora born in Virginia?I think it is interesting that the other first name is FlorY.
Flora, Flory, and Swisher are all Indiana names.
The Pennsylvania Florys were in Ohio by 1807 and followed the migration route from the Shenandoah Valley to Ohio and on to the Western frontier of Indiana.
The Whitley County Florys/Floras seemed to go back and forth between Douglas County, Kansas (Baldwin City area)
just as the Ohio and Indiana groups switch around for farming purposes.
Many of the Florys kept on going and landed in Modesto, California.
There are so many Floras that I would need a place of birth at least.
