Hallie,
In looking under Flounders in the 1935-6 Phila. City Directory at the PA Historical Society this past Saturday, there was the following listing:
W. Harry Flounders--photographer with Phila. Inquirer,
6103 Master St.
Listed as living nearby were Thomas S. (painter) and Nellie Flounders of 6110 Master St.
The address is in the general vicinity of West Philadelphia
or maybe just outside the city boundaries. The Phila.
Inquirer was already selling newspapers by the turn of the
20th century. (and still is)
Hope this information may be useful.
John Murray
PS My aunt was friendly with a Mary Flounders who worked at
Blauner's around 1940 and my aunt met her husband-to-be
at the home of Mary's brother, William (in the West Phila.
area). So I was checking the directories for all listings
that might be relevant in an effort to find the exact
address. I have several other Flounders' addresses if you
would like them.
