Help! Can any of you tell menames of the children of Elizabeth Julia Flournoy and Thomas Spencer? I am looking for a POSSIBLE daughter of theirs named EADY or EDITH SPENCER, born ca 1756 in Bedford Co Va, married Rev. John Prewit in 1778 in Albemarle Co, Va and died September 2, 1839 in Rutherford Co, NC.She lived in Burke, Rutherford and later Cleveland Co, NC after the Revolutionary War when the family moved from VA. to NC. Her husband, Rev. John Prewit served in the Continental Line of VA under the command of General DeMarcas and fought in the Battle of Guilford Courthouse just over the State Line inNC. His line of Prewits were said to be of French Huegenot extraction and came to England with William the Conqueror. (Various spellings of the Prewit name--current descendants in the Casar, NC area spell it Pruett now.)
One source tells me she has seen an Eady Spencer listed as a daughter of Elizabeth Julia Flournoy and Thomas Spencer. The time frame would be about right...Does anyone know if they had a daughter named Eady and who she may have married?
