You will find your mystery partially solved on LDS. Simon Flournoy who married Catherine Langham in 1797 in Wilkes GA was the son of William Flournoy who in 1776 m1 Edith Friend and in 1790 m2 Phebe Farrar, all in Chesterfield VA. William was the son of Francis Flournoy and Mary Gibson (also Chesterfield VA), and Francis was the son of the immigrant Jacob Flournoy, a Huguenot who came to America in 1700 on the ship Peter and Anthony---if you look on Cindy's List under Huguenots you will find a facsimile of the ship's manifest where Jacob Flournois, sa femme et ses deux garcons (his wife and his two boys) are listed. One of the garcons was Francis. Jacob was a silversmith who entered his mark at Williamsburg VA but being a part of the Maniken Towne group he most likely resided on his patented land there. You can go online to some excerpts from Turff & Twigg, an excellent book about the large Huguenot migration of which Jacob Flournoy was a part.
